Autumn

It certainly felt like Spring a couple of days ago. 65 degrees and everything… it’s cold again now though.

Last weekend I basically binged on polish shopping.  First, I went with Dee Dee to the nail supply store, and walked out with  OPI’s entire new Holland Collection for the Spring, plus two colors from China Glaze’s Hunger Games collection….

It got worse.  I attended the Midwest’s Americas Beauty Show.  This event was HUGE.  I was completely overwhelmed and wonderfully exhausted afterward….. And my debt was higher.  LOL.  I walked away with a ton of beauty supplies… including 7 China Glaze polishes and 8 OPI polishes.  Yep, I’ll get around to more frequent manicuring very soon!

I couldn’t resist testing out a couple of colors, and the “Fall-like” color combo resulted.

OPI – “Chopsticking To My Story” (orange)  &
“Wooden Shoe Like To Know?” (brown)

As I applied the brown, it reminded me so much of “You Don’t Know Jacques!”  – – – BUT they are so different.  “Wooden Shoe Like To Know” has a rosy tint with a muted gold shimmer. As normal, my amateur photographing will never do these colors justice.

Odd that this SPRING Collection color worked so well as an Autumn color.

Not to worry, I’m heading for some bright loud colors in just a second. Smile

O Summer, Where Art Thou?

Hey Guys!! It’s Duana again!

Although New York has been experiencing some wonderful weather, I’m SO tired of winter and in need of a change from my darker fall/winter manicure colors. To me, summertime means I can paint my fingers and toes with brightest polish I can find, and I LOVE IT!!  When I went into my regular nail salon, I realized that they had begun to expand their summer section (during winter months, they pack up most of the bright colors), and I immediately got excited when I saw “Need Sunglasses?” by OPI.  I just LOVE a bright yellow nail! One thing about this polish is that it goes on very thin. I got these results with three coats.

OPI “Need Sunglasses?”

Don’t judge my cuticles y’all…She hadn’t cleaned them yet. I had to snap the picture while she went to process my payment…lol 🙂

Midtown Magic…Set the Nude

China Glaze “Midtown Magic – GORGEOUS!    it’s such a pretty color. Chocolate Burgundy –   definitely magical with a pretty gold glitter almost dissolved within.

I know, I know, I was supposed to be on glitter/shimmer hiatus….

….. BUT I COULDN’T HELP IT!  lol.  It’s so sparkly and it was making googly eyes at me.

I striped the tips with Ulta’s “Set the Nude, but next time, I am just wearing the “Midtown Magic”.  all by its lonesome.

Beauty and the Beast

Nope, not the Disney movie….

Audrey Hepburn & Nicki Minaj

Now as much as I detest Nicki Minaj, that’s a pretty girl!!  She’s not a beast, but she is a M –Effin Monster.  lol, pardon my pun.

Monster–Nicki’s verse

I am not necessarily a fan of Audrey Hepburn either.  I just have different honorees.  I haven’t even seen “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” but after my manicure, I DID add it to my newly acquired Netflix Instant Queue.  (shoutout to the sweetheart KK…. and my should-be boo, Oh. Smile)

Yes, this stuff works!   With all the drying acetone and alcohol swipes I use, my poor hands take a beating.  My hands feel sooooooooooooo nice after using this! Moisturized without feeling greasy; And my skin feels protected! YES, you should try it.

Soft, young looking hands are a good thing.

Ombré Vert

a/k/a  Money Tips.  haha.  Needed green in my life.  I’ve been thinking to attempt this for a while.

Ombré
French derivation. meaning shaded. It is used in relation to textiles (a) as an adjective to describe fabrics with a dyed, printed, or woven design in which the colour is graduated from light to dark;

shaded or graduated in tone: said of a color

———————

Do you realize how difficult it is to find five shades of the same color family that GRADUALLY move from light to dark??!?!?! Try it. -_-  Still easier than creating the shades myself though.

I have three other color families to attempt.  Smile

Stripes are NOT my friend.

I clearly got hoodwinked into attempting stripes…again.  lol.  I tried.   The light pink lines weren’t showing up so I tried to add dark pink lines…. I can’t say that helped though.

I’m never giving up my dots.  NEVER.

p.s. Duana, I hate stripes…. at least until I can paint them nicely.  haha

Cupcakes & Aisha

I really wanted to cut my nails from last week, so I just needed an excuse. So when my pinky nail started to crack, they had to go.  Now I have a new workspace for nail art!!

I have grown to love the color combination of pink and brown…

…that is all Aisha’s doing.  And now, every single time I see the combo, I  think of Aisha.  She has great taste.

And every time I look at this design on my nails, I just think of cupcakes….

Cupcakes and Aisha.  lol.

I love polka dots!

Red Light, Green Light

IMG_2727I hate driving.  But I think I hate public transportation in Chicago more.

Last week I was greeted by mail with a Red Light Enforcement Camera Ticket.

FOR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS?!?!?!?  O_O

Now, TECHNICALLY, I didn’t run a red light.  I made a right turn.  On red.  At a permitted right turn on red light.

So, you KNOW I was ready to contest this ticket….. until I watched the video.  Then realized that I never really came to a complete stop before the light turned red before I turned.  BUT IT WAS BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS YELLOW WHEN I REALLY STARTED MY TURN!!!!!

I don’t feel like fighting the ticket though.  And since I still hate public transportation more than driving right now…. I’m never driving that route to work anymore ever again. Never.
I’m still mad about this stupid ticket!

I used Orly Matte Top Coat on the gray based nails to allow the “lights” to stand out, and topped just the acrylic paint dots with a dot of Seche Vite for shine.  Did it work?
