The Hunger Games

I’ll be honest….

I didn’t know or care about the book nor the movie…. UNTIL the buzz about China Glaze’s collection.

I know, I know….. I was missing out. lol. I still haven’t read the books, but I do want to see the movie… hopefully soon.

But this polish!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I only purchased two colors out of the collection.  This one is BOSS!!!  I absolutely positively love:

China Glaze “Agro”

This is a ONE COAT WONDER!  Yep, only one coat and the color is beautiful.  The formulation was dreamy.  Easy to apply.  Opaque coverage and all.  And it’s such a unique color.

Yes. Love.

Love VoxBox

I was excited to FINALLY receive my Influenster Love VoxBox!!!   (www.influenster.com)

I was waiting until my nails grew out a little… enough to have a free edge to fold my nail stickers over.

The Stash Herbal Tea….. not really my favorite, though I do love herbal tea.  I still haven’t tried the Venus razor (as I’m more partial to Veet for hair removal), nor have I tried the Truvia.  I haven’t found a use for it since I don’t use sweetener for my tea…. but now that I think about it…. Maybe I’ll like the Stash Tea better if I use the Truvia.  I’ll try it, and give you all the update.

OBVIOUSLY, I loved the Ghirardelli chocolate.  Smooth and silky!  I tried it when I was craving chocolate during PMS, so it was even BETTER!  lol. Ahhhh chocolate.

And now for the highlight to this whole package for me!!!…

Kiss Nail Dress “Cocktail”

IMG_3210

Cute right?

I’m no longer interested Kiss nail products.  This is the second epic FAIL I’ve experienced.  (the first was the  Kiss Nail Art Stencils – *thumbs down*)

These little stickers LOOKED nice on.  They were extremely easy to apply.

They FELT horrible.  Yes, past tense.  I peeled the little suckers off my nails about 3 hours ago.  They didn’t even last on my nails 24 hours.

The ends were prickly on the free edge of my nail.  I think that’s why I like the nail polish/lacquer strips better.  They adhere flat and smooth to your nail bed and feel just like polish.

This nail sticker design also had little bubbles of shiny sparkly little rhinestone thingys. Cute to look at, but with my self-diagnosed tactile OCD toward my nails, I was distracted by the little bumpy feel on my nails. I can’t stand a snag on my nail, a hangnail, a split layer, chipped polish…. none of that.  So, these basically had to come off.

Perfect for an extended vacation. No need for polish removers or anything.  I applied these while comfortably watching television.    And quickly!

I would definitely recommend them for little girls who want really cute nails and those who don’t feel as skilled with neat polish application or nail art.

Amsterdam

*inserting gratuitous shoe pic* lol

On my trip to Amsterdam with my sister several years back, we crossed all over the Red Light District…. I only saw ONE red light…. and never saw ONE window.  SMH.  But I saw a zillion coffeeshops.  lol. I really need to go back.

I wanted my fingernails blue, but to tie in this beautiful bright red from OPI’s 2012 Holland Collection I went ahead and made some accent nails. With dots, naturally.

The Zoo

China Glaze “Classic Camel”
w/ dark pink acrylic paint dots

It just looks like a Giraffe print to me.   So Camels & Giraffes.  Do they even have camels at the zoo???? Wait, do they have giraffes at the zoo?   I haven’t been to the zoo in far too long…. obviously.

The “Classic Camel” is prettier in the bottle than on my nails.  It does, however, have a beautiful gold shimmer.  But the drabness and neutrality makes for a great nail art base color.

A Roll In The Hague

…… with a little St. Patrick’s day on the side.

I have been anxious to get this deep vibrant orange polish on my nails for about 2 weeks now.  It was the main color I decided I needed from OPI’s Holland Collection.

But I had to give the Irish in me at least a little shout out.  Yes, I’ve got that Scot-Irish last name thing happening.  I have a  red-headed Irishman for a great-great or something.  So, I added a couple clovers.

Have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!  Enjoy your green libations! Smile

Autumn

It certainly felt like Spring a couple of days ago. 65 degrees and everything… it’s cold again now though.

Last weekend I basically binged on polish shopping.  First, I went with Dee Dee to the nail supply store, and walked out with  OPI’s entire new Holland Collection for the Spring, plus two colors from China Glaze’s Hunger Games collection….

It got worse.  I attended the Midwest’s Americas Beauty Show.  This event was HUGE.  I was completely overwhelmed and wonderfully exhausted afterward….. And my debt was higher.  LOL.  I walked away with a ton of beauty supplies… including 7 China Glaze polishes and 8 OPI polishes.  Yep, I’ll get around to more frequent manicuring very soon!

I couldn’t resist testing out a couple of colors, and the “Fall-like” color combo resulted.

OPI – “Chopsticking To My Story” (orange)  &
“Wooden Shoe Like To Know?” (brown)

As I applied the brown, it reminded me so much of “You Don’t Know Jacques!”  – – – BUT they are so different.  “Wooden Shoe Like To Know” has a rosy tint with a muted gold shimmer. As normal, my amateur photographing will never do these colors justice.

Odd that this SPRING Collection color worked so well as an Autumn color.

Not to worry, I’m heading for some bright loud colors in just a second. Smile
